Yes, “Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World – and Why Things Are Better Than You Think” is a book by Hans Rosling.

Along with co-authors Ola Rosling and Anna Rosling Rönnlund, explores the misconceptions many people have about the world. Hans Rosling was a Swedish physician, academic, statistician, and public speaker known for his captivating presentations on global health and development trends.

The book, published in 2018, argues that despite the widespread belief that the world is in decline, data shows that life on Earth has been getting better in many significant ways.

Rosling presents this argument through a series of “factfulness” principles, aiming to encourage a more accurate understanding of the world based on statistics and facts rather than on outdated or exaggerated perceptions.

“Factfulness” introduces readers to ten instincts that distort our perspective—from the fear instinct (that leads us to see the world as more frightening than it is) to the gap instinct (which makes us think in extremes and overlook the majority in the middle). By recognizing and controlling these instincts, Rosling suggests we can see the world more clearly and make better decisions.

The book has been widely praised for its insightful analysis and its optimistic view of humanity’s progress. It encourages readers to look beyond the negative headlines and to understand the world through a more fact-based lens. Bill Gates famously recommended “Factfulness” as one of the most important books everyone should read to gain a more realistic perspective of the world.

After reading this book life makes more sense based on facts and its quite hopeful out there. I really recommend this book. //Kristina
